Dock of the bay

Posted by Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 5 February 2016 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Before we leave the National Museum, a return to the lake shore where the Paddle Steamer Enterprise has its own wharf. The steam boat is the largest functional object at the Museum. The vessel was launched in 1878 after being built in Echuca on the Murray River. Here, you see Bob, one of the volunteer crew. Perhaps he is dreaming of the good old days when paddle steamers were a common sight on great inland waterways such as the Murray.

Bob really does look like part of the fittings . . a safe pair of hands for sure.

Love this B&W. Man and his boat enjoying coffee. Doesn't get better than that.
