Within without - 01Posted by Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 16 September 2010 in Art & Design and Portfolio. Today we begin a three part series on James Turrell's art work – or skyspace - "Within without". In this first shot, you see the long sloping walkway into its pyramid lke structure. Here are some details about the project. The National Gallery of Australia has an astounding new work of art. “Within without” is a skyspace by American artist James Turrell. This is art you can walk around, walk inside and sit down on (it has heated benches!). Its basalt chamber – open to the sky – is a striking feature. Around it, surfaces are both soft and reflective. “Within without” is a temple to Light.
