Gulaga National Park - part 2Posted by Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 23 February 2012 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. The trail to the summit of Gulaga - passing one of the giant granite boulders that are a feature of the mountain side. There are several types of rainforest on the mountain. Here, on the drier slopes, we are working our way along the path between stands of tall eucalypt forest. Around the many little streams, we also pass groves of lush tree ferns. The trail follows an old mining track. There was a gold rush on the mountain in the late 1800s when miners extracted alluvial gold.
