Cowra Japanese Garden - part 3Posted by Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 9 March 2012 in Art & Design and Portfolio. You are with my series on the Cowra Japanese Garden. I shot in mid winter - softer and less harsh light. We are in the town of Cowra. This is a town with strong links in its history to relations between Australia and Japan. A Japanese POW camp was set up in the town during World War II; and this camp was the scene for a dramatic escape known as the Cowra Breakout. The Garden has as its model the Imperial Gardens in Kyoto Japan. Here, you can see how designer, Ken Nakajima, has created a tranquil vista across one of the lakes. The native Eucalypt trees form the backdrop on the edge of the site.

@Phil David Morris, 2012: Thanks, Phil. I took this shot in mid winter so the place was quiet and serene with few people about. The peak time of the year is spring - Cherry Blossom time in the Garden! |
