Mountain DewPosted by Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 25 June 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. Autumn is traditionally harvest time - and a time to celebrate once the harvest is in. I went along to a couple of harvest festivals. The villages of Collector and Tallong are famous for their pumpkins and apples. Here, I am in Tallong (Southern Highlands) for the Apple Day Festival. The Mountain Dew Band set the rustic mood and it was not far to go for some delicious apple pies. Note the lagerphone (a beer cap rhythm instrument) in the centre. No actual apples to show you – but tomorrow you will see pumpkins on a grand scale!

@Eric Cousineau: Thanks, Eric. I can well imagine these guys doing a hearty version of this old song! @London Caller: Yes - country music is big here. Keith Urban, Kasey Chambers - the list goes on... @Michael Fresh: Yes, a country flavour - also leaning towards the bush band style of folk music. @Don Levesque: Thanks, Don. I imagine your sodaphone and its sound would be very close to what we hear from the lagerphone! |
