Crocodile!Posted by Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 3 July 2012 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio. The first rule when fishing the wetlands in Kakadu National Park (in Australia's Northern Territory) is never go out on the water in a boat smaller than the largest Crocodile likely to be lurking nearby. We spotted the big Croc - at least 4 metres in length - within casting distance of this fishing rig and its young crew. Crocs are very adept at leaping out of the water to grab a meal. Feeling lucky today, boys? Happy Silly Tuesday!

@Hiro: I think the boat is OK - at least it has a big motor for a fast getaway! @Mariana M.: It is a true story but editing of images like this can make a scene appear scarier than it was in real life! @Rick: Fishing and thrills - exactly. People are crazy up north. I heard a story the other day about a photographer who went out on the water with some fishermen. They offered to take their boat up close to a big croc so the photographer could get a shot from the front of the boat. Rather too close. With some force the boat rammed into the crocodile - which took its own ‘snap shot’ – just missing the surprised photographer! A Park Ranger was driving the boat I was on. So no reckless conduct that day! |
