This group of seven pears has long been a favorite at the National Gallery of Australia (NGA). Visitors can touch, lean on (and for kids!) climb over it. It is back on display – in its new home in one of the gardens near the entrance to the Gallery.
The title of this steel sculpture is Pears – version number 2, by George Baldessin.
The NGA describes them as “playfully leaning toward each other as though engaged in conversation”. The pears “reflect light by day and cast intriguing shadows by night”.
