The Brodburger is a late night burger van located in Bowen Park beside Lake Burley Griffin. I must admit I have not yet tried one of the flame grilled burgers - it's a long wait if you arrive at a busy time like you see here! Still, while you wait you can admire the swans gliding past hoping for a free feed.
The Brodburger has won itself a big serving of notoriety. Its fairy lights beckon you at night from the parkland setting. The little red van pays for its power and water. But it is camped illegally say the authorities!
It’s the stuff of urban legend. A gourmet chef and aspiring restaurateur - Sascha Brodbeck – created this gypsy like food caravan with its offering of blue cheese with the burgers. As the story goes, this was after he and his partners lost out in the global financial crisis. Brodburger certainly has its own brand of clever marketing. However, it does add much needed soul to a lake shore where every building - even a tiny kiosk - is subject to the red tape of planning approval. Not much fun in a world like that.
