Brass'ere - part 2

Posted by
Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 16 March 2011 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

A final shot of New Orleans-style jazz band, Brass'ere. The band was playing at the Mount Stromlo Observatory. Here, I catch them as they dramatically file out of the dome while playing the last tune of their set.

Mount Stromlo marks its 100th anniversary this year – but on a sad note. The 2003 Canberra bushfire destroyed most of the site; and its collection of precious telescopes was lost in the fire.

An empty shell open to the light is all that remains of the dome you see here. It forms a rough amphitheatre - and has proven to be popular for art and music events. I have previously featured the view from one of the other domes in this post.

✿ Anina ✿ from Auckland, New Zealand

Oh wow! I love the tones and processing. How did you do it?

18 Mar 2011 7:42am

@✿ Anina ✿: Thanks. I used one of the Photoshop filter artistic effects (poster edges) to give the grainy look. I then added a sepia photo filter - but not to the sky. Finally, I converted the image to B&W.

Bettina from Los Angeles, United States

That's fantastic. I love your tones.
