Feast for the senses

Posted by Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 7 November 2011 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

He's back! This is Neville the Gardener - who we first met here.

The giant snail seems to be safe for the moment - as long as it keeps off the flower beds!

7 Nov 2011 12:06pm

Williams from East LaHave, Nova Scotia, Canada

Great shot. Now is that snail self propelled or does Neville have to scoop it onto his pitch fork to move it around?

7 Nov 2011 12:23pm

@Williams: Thanks, Williams. Funny you should mention Neville having to scoop it up on his pitch fork. Look out for tomorrow's posting! A local puppet maker created the snail and he built it on the base of a radio controlled model car. Neville's assistant has the remote control and 'drives' the snail from a discreet distance away. The textures of the snail body are very life-like and the eyes on stalks also move.

Marleen from Doesburg, Netherlands

Such a funny and colorful shot! And a radio controlled snail must be quite an attraction:-0000
