I am on the East Alligator River in Kakadu National Park. Here, you see a portrait of Neville - our guide on the boat trip along the river.
Neville is a member of one of the Arnhem Land Aboriginal tribes. This is his country; and the river forms the border between Arnhem Land tribal country and Kakadu.
Neville was glad to have his photo taken. I soon realised this was no easy task - he rarely paused for a set pose. I catch his hand motion here as he is about to draw something to our attention. He was an exceptional guide - telling us stories and singling out points of interest as he steered the boat along the river.
