A new school nears completion in the village of Matakus. Here, our group listens to details about education in the village. The biggest need, as we heard, was to equip classrooms with computers. I am very pleased to report on the generosity of my fellow cruise passengers during our brief visit. One of our group suggested we could donate our spare Rupiah to the school - to assist in buying computers. Our group of 60 turned this idea into a large donation.
The artifact sellers in nearby Sangliat Dol were disappointed that rough seas had prevented our planned expedition. It was our last day; and here in this fishing village, there was no opportunity to buy souvenirs or artifacts. Therefore, the donation we made to the school in Matakus was a great way to transfer our spare Rupiah to meet the needs of the local people.
This shot concludes my visit to Yamdena Island. It was only a last minute change of plan that led us to a quiet fishing village. I hope you enjoyed the tour!
