Long live vinyl

Posted by
Stephen (Canberra, Australia) on 7 December 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

The LP record is back! Music fans tell me that vinyl LPs sound superior to CDs and last longer. Dig out your record player and give your old LPs a spin. As well as the classic albums, some of today's bands are also releasing their music on LP record. What goes around comes around.

I got this shot in Garema Place in the civic centre.

I was never happier than to see the arrival of CDs. The pops and hisses were gone forever. I'm keeping it that way. Also, I can't hear all the subtleties that some people can.

Mooie from Vancouver, Canada

Nice shot and quite right about the vinyl.... although some would argue they never really went away anyhow. ;-)

time and I love having my favourite records spinning and playing loud for my enjoy-

Great framing, as always. I've got tons of vinyl and my Technics direct drive turntable all the way from 1980, still working perfectly with a high end Pickering cartridge that still makes those records sound great, even though I also went along with technology and added the digital toys as they came out. I don't like having to flip albums over for side B, or some of the scratches and skips, but there is a joy in whole album art with liner notes and that warm sound.

That is so cool ... and glad to see a come back for the albums (they are so much more tangible than the mp3 download cards) ... it's all about displaying your music collection and there is no better way than vinyl :) Great shot!

7 Dec 2012 9:08pm

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

I've still got all my singles from when I was a DJ-trouble is that the stylii I used weighed about half a ton(To stop the needle bouncing with the dancers) so I can't imagine that there's much HI, and definately no FI

Excellente scène chez un marchand de vinyls. Le cadrage est superbe. I like a lot. J'ai toujours mes vieux vinyls et je peux encore les écouter, certains datent des années 60.
Bonne fin de semaine.
