King of the castle - in this shot the cockatoo's crest looks like a crown. The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is an iconic Australian bird. It is a common visitor and the largest of the parrots in my garden. I will likely see either single birds or large groups. You can also see flocks of cockatoos around areas of parkland and along road verges. Cockatoos fly back to the mountain ranges to breed but also favour nest hollows in mature eucalypt trees in parks and suburban gardens.
